Mrs. Briggs is a graduate of Western Michigan University who received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and completed her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. During her undergraduate and Master's education she performed extensive research in the areas of bereavement and grief in adolescents and in the use of Applied Behavior Analysis with children diagnosed with Autism. Additionally, she performed research in the use of mentorship models for with students with physical and learning disabilities. She also worked for Western Michigan University's Extended University Program providing detailed statistical analyses to improve student enrollment and retention.
Mrs. Briggs is licensed at the Master's level in the state of Michigan, and has extensive clinical training in the assessment and evaluation of children, adolescents, and adults with cognitive, emotional and behavioral difficulties related to neurological diseases and injuries. She specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with behavioral disorders, mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, adjustment issues, acute stress, Attention Deficit Disorder, learning disabilities, and grief reactions. Her post master's continuing education is in the neuropsychological assessment of children and adults, parent training, and providing psychological counseling of children and adolescents. Because a number of her patients are school aged (elementary, junior high, and high school) Katelyn is available to provide assistance in the late afternoon and early evening hours.
